Graduate Student Opportunities
My research is field intensive. I'm currently looking for motivated students interested in sampling inland lakes multiple times per year to answer fundamental and applied questions in ecology. Opportunities also exist to undertake laboratory experiments to study the physiology and ecology of aquatic animals.

I strive to provide the guidance and resources needed for students to independently conduct and develop new research directions. Prospective students should be enthusiastic about forming novel concepts in ecology and  be good team members and collaborators. Experience with the scientific method, basic statistics, scientific writing and aquatic field sampling are also ideal.
Potential project areas currently include:
  • Winter coping mechanisms in freshwater fish
  • Consequences of fish nutrition for food web structure
  • Susceptibility of zooplankton to changing resource condition
  • Mechanisms of seasonal mercury variation in sport fish
If the above sounds interesting to you, please read about ongoing research and publications in the lab. Then, send me an email describing your experience and research interests.

Undergraduate  Student Opportunities

I might have opportunities for interested undergraduate students to gain research experience in the lab and field. Please email me with a description of your background (coursework), interests and career goals.
